As-salamu alaikum. I thought it would be fun for us to explore 10 essential words in Islam. These words are very important for muslims to know and includes them into their daily routine. The words includes the Five Pillars of Islam, Sunnah, Tawakkul, Dua, Halal, and Haram. These words are like building blocks, shaping the beliefs and practices of Muslims. From the basics of faith to daily life choices, each term carries a unique meaning. Five Pillars of Islam:
- Shahada: The belief that there is no god but Allah (SWT), and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is his messenger.
- Transliteration: Ashadu an la ilaha illa illa-ilah, wa ashadu anna muhammadan rasul ullah.
- Salat: The Islamic prayer, performed five times a day at set time facing the Kaaba in Mecca.
- Zakat: Obligatory almsgiving or charity.
- Sawm: Fasting during the holy month of Ramadan.
- Hajj: The pilgrimage to Mecca.
Approach to Daily Life:
- Sunnah: The practices and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), considered a guide for Muslims.
- Tawakkul: Trust and reliance on Allah, emphasizing faith and confidence in divine guidance.
- Dua: Supplication or prayer, a direct communication with Allah for guidance and assistance.
- Halal: Permissible or lawful according to Islamic law, often used in relation to food.
- Haram: Prohibited or forbidden in Islam, often used to describe actions or substances that are not allowed.
